About DIGS:  Club Leadership

Our Executive Board and Trustees for the 2009 - 2010 Season

The Executive Board directs club operations on a daily basis. Trustees are responsible for ensuring continuity of the club's mission and not-for-profit structure.  Incumbents in these positions are listed below.  In addition to the Executive Board and Trustees, parents lead the club through chairmanship of and participation on various committees and through responsibilities as team representatives.  Team representatives can be found on the individual team pages.

Bill Lee
President and Trustee

Bill is a director for a leading New York metropolitan area telecommunications company.  In this role, he has extensive operational and organizational management experience.  His DIGS experience is also extensive.  This is his third year as president.  Bill previously served four years as DIGS's 1st Vice President and two years as 2nd Vice President. 

Bill is also active in regional volleyball.  He is an assistant coach for the Ramapo College Women's Volleyball Program. His responsibilities include practice and game preparation, and development of the outside hitters, middle blockers and team defense.   

In building his volleyball leadership skills, Bill has successfully completed USA Volleyball's IMPACT and CAP Level I education programs.  He is also a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and is currently certifying as a strength and conditioning specialist.

Bill's daughter is an alumnus of the DIGS program from 2002 to 2004.  This will be Bill's tenth season with the club.

Bill Lee
Kathy Kurtzke Kathy Kurtzke
1st Vice President

Kathy has been a software developer for the past 17 years for Insurance Services Office, Inc., (ISO) a provider of data, underwriting, risk management and legal regulatory services to property casualty insurers and other clients.  Kathy has been a member of the Montvale Recreation Department for 8 years and also volunteered her time as a vestry member and Sunday school teacher for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Montvale.  She has worked on various Montvale PTO committees as well as a team parent and assistant coach for various sports throughout the years. This year she joined the Pascack Hills High School Volleyball Booster Club as the recording secretary for the club.  Last year was her first exposure to the volleyball world.  Her daughter Samantha, now a junior, first started playing volleyball in her freshman year.

Don Kilinski
2nd Vice President

Don is a Managing Director with a New York executive search firm.  He previously held senior positions in the search industry, including Chief Financial Officer and President/COO.  Prior to that, he was Asia Pacific CFO and Worldwide VP Finance for a subsidiary of one of the largest advertising firms in the world.  Don holds a BS in Accounting from The State University of New York at Albany.

Don is active in his community and has coached numerous recreation level teams in soccer, softball, baseball and basketball over the past eight years.  He has also been a LL baseball commissioner.  He is presently the head coach of a town travel baseball team.  He played varsity volleyball in college for The State University of New York at Albany and later for the Downstate Men’s team for more than ten years.  He played in the Empire State Games for three years representing Hudson Valley and still plays volleyball in a competitive town league.  His love for volleyball drove him to become a team representative for the DIGS 15 Red team this past season.  His daughter is currently a sophomore.

Don Kilinski 
Ed Grix  Ed Grix
Treasurer

Ed Grix has more than 25 years of management experience and works as senior director of a leading pharmacy benefit manager and mail order pharmacy. In this role, Ed leads operational and management teams that support clients. He is also the leader of the patient advocacy team designed to ensure members receive outstanding customer service.  Ed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from SUNY College at Oneonta.  

Active in his community, Ed is entering his second year as president of the St. Aedan’s Basketball program, where he has been a board member for the past 11 years. He runs the basketball clinic for K-2 and also coaches a travel team. He is Vice President of the Parish Council at St. Aedan’s, teaches in the CCD program and is an active fundraiser for the parish’s capital campaigns.

This will be Ed’s third year as a club parent. He was the 15 Blue team’s representative during the 2008-2009 season.

Julie Sprague
Secretary

Julie has been a special education teacher for 31 years.  She has taught in various settings, including high school, middle school, elementary school and pre-school.  She is presently a special education teacher in a collaborative fourth grade class in Woodcliff Lake.  She received a BA from Boston College in Elementary Education and Special Education and an MA from William Paterson University with certification as a reading specialist.  Julie has served her community as a Girl Scout leader for 13 years.  She is also a member of the Northern Valley Pre-Cana Team. 

Julie's older daughter played for DIGS from 1999 - 2003.  Her youngest daughter joined DIGS last season on the 14 and under team and is currently in seventh grade.  This is Julie's first year on the Executive Board.

Julie Sprague
Brad Ivie Brad Ivie
Trustee

Brad is a management consultant with over 20 years experience in business transformation for Fortune 500 companies in regards to the use of enterprise "portal" information technology.  He received an MBA from New York University and a Masters in International Relations from The Johns Hopkins University. 

Previously as club 1st Vice President, Brad applied his skills to re-launch the DIGS website and to put into place a club records management system and an online registration and payment system.  His prior board experience includes Board Chair for a 300-student, independent Montessori School.  Brad continues as the club registrar and webmaster.

Brad's daughter, a junior, is in her sixth year with DIGS.

Cheryl Breitbart
Trustee

Cheryl has been an independent bookkeeper for the past 22 years, providing bookkeeping and administrative consulting services to private companies and individuals. Cheryl attended New York University, receiving a degree in early childhood education. 

During her three-year tenure as a DIGS parent and volunteer, Cheryl served as a Team Rep and as Education Director, responsible for the administration of player, coach and parent education programs.  During that time, she deployed the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) program to DIGS parents, coaches and players. 

Cheryl’s daughter graduated both DIGS and high school in 2009 and will be matriculating at and playing volleyball for NYU Polytechnic.
