About Volleyball:  Summer Camps

Camps For Improving Skills and Performance

DIGS is pleased to post information regarding girls volleyball camps.  We will be continuously updating this camp page for Summer 2010 camps.  If you wish to have your camp added to this page or if you see errors,  please contact us.

The programs below are promoting camps via website information for summer 2010 (DIGS update as of March 3, 2010):

  • USSC Sports Camps - Volleyball - An insanely large network of camps (for volleyball and other sports).  For volleyball, camps run under the brands of Nike, NBC, and McCracken Camps.  As far as we know, this is the largest consolidated listing of volleyball summer camps available across the United States.  It appears that many of the programs are generally locally run (e.g., by a college or university) and that this network is a marketing resource.  A great way to visit a college of interest, too, while playing volleyball.

  • The Great Lakes Center.  We're talking Illinois, here, as well as Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Oregon (the list just keeps growing).  It offers a plethora of general skills and specialized camps and draws participants from across the country.  The program is considered top-notch and their setting camps are consider among the best in the country!  Many dates listed.

  • World Volleyball Camp.  A well regarded program (also known as Huguenot).  Our own Scott Mose had a big hand in its inception.  Held at the YMCA World Volleyball Training Center in upstate New York (Huguenot, NY).  This year three week-long sessions for girls run from July 25 through August 13, 2010, with weekend "skills camps" that allow a student to stay for multiple weeks.  They also are offering two boys volleyball camps this summer as well.

  • Russ Rose - Volleyball Express @ Juniata College in Pennsylvania -- for those wanting a very strong, intense program.  Russ Rose is "only" the head coach of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 NCAA Division I girls volleyball champion, Penn State (this was Russ's fourth NCAA championship).  Camps run from June 20 - 23, July 18 - 21, and July 25 - 28, 2010.

  • Penn State Volleyball Camp.  A solid program for those looking for volleyball and a college campus-based experience (e.g., some non-volleyball activities as well).  Individual camps and team camps are offered.  Well regarded and includes Russ Rose as director (he's everywhere in Central PA).  The individual instructional camp session will be held June 27 - July 1, 2010.  Other camps are for full teams attending with their coaches.

  • Villanova Volleyball Summer Camps.  Individual Skills Camp (grades 8 - 12) is July 27-31 and Team Camp is July 17.

  • East Stroudsburg University Volleyball Camp.  Offers an individual camp this year, from Sunday July 11th to Thursday July 15th.

  • Lehigh Volleyball Camp.  Overnight  camp this year is July 18 - 21.

  • Lock Haven University Volleyball Camp - In central Pennsylvania, July 25 - 29, 2010.

  • University of Pittsburgh Volleyball Camp.  Three programs to choose from, running from June 14 - 17 (earliest camp we knowof) to late July, 2010.

  • The Tri-State Elite Girls Volleyball Program in Western Pennsylvania offers a number of very good specialized training camps (too many to list here - so check it out!).

  • Columbia University Volleyball Camps in New York City.  Day camp sessions run from August 3 - 6, and August 9 - 12, 2010.  Overnight camp sessions (second year now) run from July 23 - 25 and August 16 - 18, 2010.

  • Marist College Volleyball Camp - Poughkeepsie, New York.  Their fourth annual Evening Camp will run August 2nd to 6th and their second annual overnight Advanced Camp will run July 30th to August 1st. No website link or brochure has yet been provided to DIGS.

  • University of Buffalo Volleyball Camp.  Scroll down on the page to find  the 2010 Women's Volleyball Camps.  There are three overnight camps planned in mid July (all skills, Hi-Po, and position).

  • Cornell University Hi-Po Volleyball Camp - One high potential camp: July 17 - 21, 2010, positioned for high-school students looking to play at the collegiate level.

  • Syracuse University Girl's Volleyball Camps - They are two concurrent overnight camps: August 3 - 4 (Elite Training Camp) and August 5 - 7 (Summer Camp).

  • Connecticut Elite Volleyball Camp.  They keep adding programs, with an individual camp and two hitter/setters specialized camps, plus now a day camp for younger players (grades 2 - 7).  All in July this year.  Only the individual camp, however, is overnight (July 16 - 19, 2010).

  • Fairfield University Volleyball Camp.  One all-skills camp this year:  July 25 - 28, 2010.

  • University of Delaware Volleyball Camp.  Offers two camps from Sunday July 11th to Thursday July 15th and Sunday July 18th to Thursday July 22nd.

  • Winning Edge Volleyball Camp at Bridgewater College, Virginia, offers two individual camps in very late June/early July.

  • Bob Schneck's Rhode Island Volleyball Camps.  In Wakefield, RI.  Two camps are planned:  July 25 - 28 and July 29 - August 1, 2010.  It appears that players can stay over two sessions if desired.  The site information is a bit confusing and the website design is atrocious.  But it could be a good camp.

  • The Athlete Advantage volleyball training program, founded the coaches from the Push The Rock Volleyball Club (if that is meaningful to you).

The camps and programs below were in operation for the summers of 2007, 2008, and 2009.  We will periodically check to see if they plan to hold summer 2010 camps, then "move them up" to confirmed status above.

  • GEVA sponsors its own version of the High Performance Program. In July 2009, GEVA USA Girls Youth (athletes born in 1992 and after) Girls Select Group (athletes born in 1994 and after) and Girls Future Select Group (athletes born 1996 and after) will be invited to train at our High Performance Selection Camp. The camp will take place from Fri. July 10th – Sun. 12th. During the camp participants will compete for positions on a GEVA USA YOUTH TEAM or a GEVA USA SELECT HP TEAM to represent our region and compete against other HP teams from all over the world at the 2009 USA Volleyball High Performance National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Learn about tryouts.

  • Maria Nolan's Developmental Volleyball Camp.  A very strong local day program, led by Maria Nolan, New Jersey's winningest volleyball coach, and an excellent staff of coaches in the field.

  • PowerZone Volleyball Camps, another day camp conveniently located in Denville, New Jersey.  The summer 2010 schedule has not yet been posted.

  • Sportime Elite Camp (Long Island) - A number of programs this summer.

  • St. John's Volleyball Summer Clinic.  Elite summer volleyball clinic, July 13-17, 2009.

  • George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia.  A number of camps, including the Girls High Performance Camp, July 25-28, 2009.

  • American Volleyball Camps.  Hosted by Head Coach Barry Goldberg on the campus of American University in Washington, DC. Both indoor and beach training for beginners through advanced level players. July 13-16: Middle School Combo & Complete Player Camp; July 28-31: All Skills Camp; Aug. 1-2: Setters Camp; Aug. 3-4: Hitters Camp & Libero Camp; Aug. 5: Serving Camp. Residential and Commuter.

  • Towson University Volleyball Camps.  Two camps are planned:  July 13 - 15 and July 16 - 19, 2009.

  • Pacific Coast Volleyball Camps - Hey!  The west coast could be a "totally rad" idea.

  • University of Nevada at Las Vegas, for those who like to travel (or who enjoy a "dry heat").  Five camps, held in late July.

  • STAR Volleyball Camps - a series of Virginia-based camps at various locations, run by Tom Houser.
