About Volleyball:  Summer Camps

Camps For Improving Skills and Performance

DIGS is pleased to post information regarding girls volleyball camps.  We will be continuously updating this camp page for Summer 2009 camps.  If you wish to have your camp added to this page or if you see errors,  please contact us.

The programs below are promoting camps via website information for summer 2009 (DIGS update as of May 21, 2009):

  • Russ Rose - Volleyball Express @ Juniata College in Pennsylvania -- for those wanting a very strong, intense program.  Russ Rose is "only" the head coach of the 2007 and 2008 NCAA Division I girls volleyball champion, Penn State (this was Russ's third NCAA championship).  Camps run from June 21 - 24, July 12 - 15, and July 19 - 22, 2009.


  • Penn State Volleyball Camp.  A solid program for those looking for volleyball and a college campus-based experience (e.g., some non-volleyball activities as well).  Individual camps and team camps are offered.  Well regarded and includes Russ Rose as director (he's everywhere in Central PA).  The individual instructional camp session will be held June 29 - July 3, 2009.  Other camps are for full teams attending with their coaches.


  • The Tri-State Elite Girls Volleyball Program in Western Pennsylvania offers several good camps, including the 3rd Annual "Rising Star Camp", Monday, June 15th thru Wednesday, June 17th, 2009, for 2012 and 2013 Graduates (current 8th and 9th graders) and the 4th Annual College Prospect Camp for Class of 2010 and 2011, Thursday, June 18th – Sunday, June 21st, 2009.


  • GEVA sponsors its own version of the High Performance Program. In July 2009, GEVA USA Girls Youth (athletes born in 1992 and after) Girls Select Group (athletes born in 1994 and after) and Girls Future Select Group (athletes born 1996 and after) will be invited to train at our High Performance Selection Camp. The camp will take place from Fri. July 10th – Sun. 12th. During the camp participants will compete for positions on a GEVA USA YOUTH TEAM or a GEVA USA SELECT HP TEAM to represent our region and compete against other HP teams from all over the world at the 2009 USA Volleyball High Performance National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Learn about tryouts.


  • World Volleyball Camp.  A well regarded program (also known as Huguenot).  Held at the YMCA World Volleyball Training Center in upstate New York (Huguenot, NY).  Four week-long sessions run from July 19 through August 14, 2009, with weekend "skills camps" that allow a student to stay for multiple weeks.


  • Columbia University Volleyball Camps in New York City.  Day camp sessions run from July 14 - 17, August 3 - 6, and August 9 - 12, 2009.  An overnight camp has been added this year for July 24 - 26, 2009.


  • PowerZone Volleyball Camps, Denville, New Jersey.  The summer 2009 schedule has been posted.


  • Sportime Elite Camp (Long Island) - A number of programs this summer.


  • Lock Haven University Volleyball Camp - In central Pennsylvania, July 26 - 30.


  • The Great Lakes Center.  We're talking Illinois, here, as well as Texas, Ohio and Michigan.  It offers a plethora of general skills and specialized camps and draws participants from across the country.  The program is considered top-notch and their setting camps are consider among the best in the country!  Many dates listed.


  • Connecticut Elite Volleyball Camp.  The individual skills camp will be held July 16 - 19, 2009.


  • University of Buffalo Volleyball Camp.  Scroll down on the page to find 2009 Women's Volleyball Camps.  There are two camps planned: July 11 - 14 and July 17 - 19, 2009.


  • St. John's Volleyball Summer Clinic.  Elite summer volleyball clinic, July 13-17, 2009.


  • George Mason University, in Fairfax, Virginia.  A number of camps, including the Girls High Performance Camp, July 25-28, 2009.


  • Villanova Volleyball Summer Camps.  Individual Skills and Competition Camp Overnight/Commuter July 27-31 (Grades 8-12).

  • University of Pittsburgh Volleyball Camp.  Many dates to choose from - July 9 to July 26, 2009.


  • Fairfield University Volleyball Camp.  Three camps offered this summer, including an All-Skills camp, Setter/Hitter camp, and Advanced camp.


  • The Athlete Advantage volleyball training program, founded by well-regarded coaches from the Push The Rock Volleyball Club.


  • Lehigh Volleyball Camp.  Day and overnight  camps.


  • Marist College Volleyball Camp - Poughkeepsie, New York.  This year the program has added an overnight Advanced Camp: July 31st-August 2nd.


  • Winning Edge Volleyball Camp - Bridgewater, Virginia:  June 19 - 23.


  • Bob Schneck's Rhode Island Volleyball Camps.  Two camps are planned:  July 19 - 22 and July 23 - 26, 2009.


  • American Volleyball Camps.  Hosted by Head Coach Barry Goldberg on the campus of American University in Washington, DC. Both indoor and beach training for beginners through advanced level players. July 13-16: Middle School Combo & Complete Player Camp; July 28-31: All Skills Camp; Aug. 1-2: Setters Camp; Aug. 3-4: Hitters Camp & Libero Camp; Aug. 5: Serving Camp. Residential and Commuter.


  • East Stroudsburg University Volleyball Camp ,  Offers an individual week, an elite camp, and a team camp -- held on Sunday July 12th to Thursday July 16th, Sunday July 19th to Thursday July 23rd, and Friday July 24th to Sunday July 26th, respectively.


  • Towson University Volleyball Camps.  Two camps are planned:  July 13 - 15 and July 16 - 19, 2009.


  • Pacific Coast Volleyball Camps - Hey!  The west coast could be a "totally rad" idea.


  • University of Nevada at Las Vegas, for those who like to travel (or who enjoy a "dry heat").  Five camps, held in late July.

  • STAR Volleyball Camps - a series of Virginia-based camps at various locations, run by Tom Houser.

 

The camps and programs below were in operation for summer 2007 and 2008.  We will periodically check to see if they plan to hold summer 2009 camps, then "move them up" to confirmed status.

  • Maria Nolan's Developmental Volleyball Camp.  A very strong local program, led by Maria Nolan, New Jersey's winningest volleyball coach, and an excellent staff of leading coaches in the field.  Four different programs on two different weeks are offered:  July 8 - 11 (separate day and evening sessions) and July 21 to 24 (separate day and evening sessions).  Both day sessions are for grades 7 - 9.  The evening session July 8 - 11 is for grades 10 - 12.  The evening session July 21 - 24 is for elite players only (grades 9 - 12 with varsity / club experience).   • Seton Hall Summer Camps.  The Junior Pirate Camp, designed for girls in grades 6 - 8, will be held on July 28 - 30, while the Pirate Volleyball Camp, designed for girls in grades 9 - 2, will take place July 31 - August 3.


  • Nyack College Volleyball Camps.  Led by former DIGS coach, Sheri Leegwater, the spirited head coach of the Nyack Warriors Volleyball team.  Girls day camps will be held August 4 - 8 and August 11 - 15, and a girls evening camp August 11 - 15.


  • Rutgers Volleyball Camp.  Day camps will be held June 24 - 26 and July 29 - 31, and an overnight camp will be held July 11 - 14.  There are also specialty camps for attacking/defense and setting/defense, both July 23 - 25.


  • Kristina Hernandez's Performance Volleyball Camp at Loyola College.


  • Netherby Volleyball Camps at Hofstra University.


  • Syracuse University Girl's Volleyball Camps - They are offering both a commuter's camp August 1 - 3 and an over-night camp August 4 - 7.
