About Volleyball:  Organizations

The Organizations You Should Know About
  • GEVA is the key regional governing body for volleyball in New Jersey and downstate New York.  Its website is a solid resource of information on activities and programs in the area.  GEVA is particularly relevant to DIGS as it oversees clubs (officers, coaches, chaperones, players) and referees.  GEVA also sponsors many of the tournaments DIGS and competing clubs participate in.  Check out the Juniors: Girls' Home page:  changes are being made regarding tournaments and special programs that reflect new ideas and ongoing improvements.

  • USA Volleyball (USAV) is the national governing body for volleyball in the United States.  GEVA is one of many regions in USAV.  There is a dedicated section for Juniors Indoor volleyball that is useful in regards to national and qualifying tournaments and national volleyball training programs.

    • USA Volleyball sponsors a high-profile program of camps and national competition teams for particularly serious and talented players during the late spring.  This program is known as the USAV High Performance Camps/Teams.

  • The Federation International Volleyball (FIVB) is the international governing body of volleyball.  It isn't particularly relevant to DIGS, but it is interesting for those curious enough to look.
